Hannah Deacon is a Registered Dietitian (RD) from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a double major. One focusing on aspects of food safety, production, and quality, while the other focusing on aspects of clinical nutrition. She also completed an accredited integrated dietetic internship. That included hospital rotations in different medical areas. The following includes: diabetes, heart disease, surgery, and weight management to name a few at several hospitals.
She is a Certified Craving Change Facilitator (Craving Change TM*), which means using cognitive-behavioural (CBT) strategies to address emotional eating as well as behaviour change to enhance success. Hannah believes in continued growth, so as of August 2018, she also became a Certified Personal Trainer! Diet, fitness and mental health all go hand in hand, which is where her three designations come in.
Currently enrolled in the Nutrition for Sport and Performance program at Niagara College to become a Certified Sports Dietitian in 2021. She taught as an instructor at the hospital for 4 years, and as an instructor at Elevated Learning Academy. Her experience expands to several areas of dietetics from diabetes, and weight management at the Royal Alexandra Hospital to private practice and have been a dietitian for 6 years.
Always passionate about what she does, hence she started her private practice, Hannah Deacon Dietitian, 3 years ago to help more people. Deacon has been featured on Todayville Edmonton for “local stories of resilience and hope” offering advice on staying healthy and positive. She loves working out, hiking, salsa dancing and creating new recipes that are delicious, healthy and quick to make.
