Henry Gray
Henry Gray, or Hank as he was affectionately known, immigrated to Canada from Scotland in 1929 at the age of three with his father, expectant mother, and four siblings. The family would settle in Unity, Saskatchewan, and two additional siblings would be born on Canadian soil.
The first part of this book, written when Hank was in his eighties, tells of life as a new immigrant growing up on the prairies during the Depression. The second part of the book, written when Hank was past ninety years of age, picks up where the first book leaves off, telling of his time in military service, working as a logger in the wild north of British Columbia, earning a degree in Engineering and his subsequent work for the City of Edmonton. A rich saga of a life well-lived, this memoir in two parts is a tribute to a generation that weathered the trials of poverty and war. It is also a precious gift to the extended family that treasures memories of him and the stories of the life that made him
the man he was.
