Sarah Natske

I grew up in small town Middle Lake, Saskatchewan with my mom, dad, younger sister and white cat, Furball. Some of my favourite hobbies included anything outdoors, swimming, music, cooking, spending time with my family and, after becoming a lifeguard/ swim instructor in my teen years, fitness and health.

I didn’t realize it at the time, but later earning my bachelors degree in education, specializing child development, would lead me down a path that would alter me not just as a person, but eventually as a wife and mother.

I was blessed to marry my best friend, Jesse, and after having our first son my priorities shifted. With my professional training in child development, personal experience teaching and passion for health and fitness I was in the mindset of, “I know better, so I must do better!” I knew the effects that food dyes, preservatives and all that packaged stuff had on the mental, physical and emotional development of babies right from in the womb all the way through childhood and into adulthood! No matter what stage of life we are in, that stuff IS NOT GOOD FOR US and there was no way, knowing what I did, that I was feeding it to our children. Thus I was on a mission to make cleaner, healthier meals. But here’s the thing, I LOVE FOOD, so this food had to be DELICIOUS!

As we continued to grow our family to 3 beautiful children, expecting #4 as I write this, I continued to grow more and more obsessed with making anything and everything from natural ingredients, while keeping the simplicity and flavour. The overall health and wellness my family took top priority in my life… and thus the recipes started coming!

So here I find myself, mother to almost 4 and wife of my best friend looking to bring our lives back to the simplistic, natural, wholesome nature they once were generations ago. In writing this cookbook, I hope to share part of that journey with you and pray this helps you on your personal path of health and wellness.
