Sevena, is a two tailed siren, who comes from a group of mystical being found in mythology. In this scene, she is ready to fight Triton, a son of the god Poseidon and the goddess Amphitrite. A war has been started by the instigation of a woman named Envy. This battle has been chronicled in a famous print by an Italian master, Andrea Mantegna. This piece is in response to Mantegna’s work, which is called Battle Of The Sea Gods. Mantegna’s piece was at the Art Gallery of Alberta, as part of an exhibit called Beautiful Monsters.
