From the Root Up

From the Root Up by RootUP Edmonton is a one-of-a-kind book that dives into individual experiences through poetry; sharing stories and owning your identity. To get to know a person, you must hear their story. To understand their story, you must acknowledge their culture.

“From the Root Up is a collection of stories told through Q&A interviews of notable members of the community, various artworks, and vibrant poetry. From business owners to students to social workers, we delve into what culture means for these individuals through the lens of immigrant, refugee, and BIPOC identities. This year’s edition is made possible through a collaboration with the Islamic Family and Social Services Association (IFFSSA)”
