This book highlights the lives of Jewish Edmontonians who made outstanding contributions, whether professional, voluntary or philanthropic, to enhance life in the City of Edmonton and beyond. These stories are included because of the unique accomplishments of the individuals, who were all leading figures in Edmonton’s Jewish and general communities. Our previous book, From Generation to Generation: Jewish Edmontonians as Heritage Builders, featured Jewish Edmontonians of the past; this latest book is evidence that the tradition of service to one’s community has continued here in Edmonton. These are Jewish Edmontonians who in recent years have been making noteworthy contributions to our city through their exemplary community, professional and voluntary service in many fields. They personify the Jewish traditions of tikkun olam (healing the world); tzedakah (philanthropy) and kehila (dedication to community). We hope you will enjoy their stories and be inspired by them.
