1940: The Russians uprooted thousands of Polish people in one night and took them as prisoners of war to Siberia. We were a family of five.
Two and one half years later we were two. Following the loss of three lives, my mother and I stepped onto Iranian soil to freedom. Five years in India, then Uganda and Italy. Nine years from the day of our uprooting we finally arrived in the best country — Canada.
