At age 41 Rita Makkannaw met, fell in love with and married Raven Makkannaw, a Cree medicine man and spiritual leader of his people. She then began a twenty-year apprenticeship in spirituality, native history, and philosophy. This book takes us through the ups and downs of new teachings in new ways. It is a sharing of the challenges faced in a cross-cultural Native and Euro-Canadian relationship. It is also a new understanding of Canadian history through the eyes of the Indigenous people.
