Born and raised in Tokyo, immigrated to Canada in 1992, JUN TOYAMA is not your typical artist, whose childhood was defined by endless hours of drawing. While always very creative, Jun discovered the joy of fine art in the summer of 2014, while assisting her special needs’ daughter, she was fully inspired by an 82-year-old oil painting master at the Victoria College of Art in British Columbia, Canada.
After having moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 2015, Jun has continued her formal training with local teachers Gene Prokop, Oksana Zhelisko and Randy Hayashi.
Style of Work
While Jun’s strongest passion remains portrait painting in oils, the sky is the limit for this late blooming artist.
