This painting was inspired by the Red Dress Photography Project, Edmonton photographer Mufty Mathewson’s project to honour the Missing and Murdered Aboriginal Women. I wanted to suggest the beauty of the spirits of the women lost to violence, and all we’ve lost with them – song, poetry, love, kindness, trust and much more.
