Catherine Marchand

Catherine has had a passion for art since she was a little girl growing up in Windsor Ontario. She found herself sketching people early on and ended up in her late teens as a glass blower sculpturing glass figurines. She was drawn to the human form right from the beginning.

After years of exploring with different mediums, Catherine picked up a brush and oils and fell in love with painting. She then decided to devote herself to training in figurative painting and studied at the Academy of Realist Art in Edmonton Alberta. She continues to perfect her skills today by training with Master artists across Canada and the United States including her favourite contemporary Christian artist, Daniel Gerhartz.

Preferring to work from life as much as possible, she especially enjoys painting women and children and is drawn to the Victorian era and Pioneer days reflecting a longing for simpler times. Coined as a Romantic Realist, Catherine’s bold brush strokes of color and strong sources of light have given her paintings a life of their own, launching her to international recognition.

She acknowledges that any talent she holds comes from God and knows any success she finds along the way are a gift. Over the years in her study of God’s word she has grown to into a deeper understanding of the Grace of God. Knowing that it is Only upon Christ and His work on the cross that she is Saved her heart has been drawn to the early Reformers of Church History.
