Joan Sherman
Joan Sherman sketches, paints, and writes about aspects of the natural world. Her subjects present a close examination of such things as the surface of a leaf, the curve of a pebble, or the roughness of a twig. Many of Joan’s watercolours feature plants, seeds, birds, or fungi. She also details the commonplace.
Joan has shown life drawings at the Edmonton Works Festival and boreal themed paintings in several group shows. Her art hangs in public and private collections. Wild Lands Advocate, the publication of the Alberta Wilderness Association, has featured Joan’s paintings. A selection of her art cards is available at the Royal Alberta Museum of Natural History in Edmonton.
Joan lives near Athabasca, in Alberta’s boreal forest region.
