Kathy Tannas
Kathy Tannas lives with her husband Clare on a ranch near Cremona, Alberta, where they also have a share in a family greenhouse operation that grows native plant material. Kathy’s work history is varied, beginning in teaching elementary school music, then moving to botany with Clare where they have just completed 40 years of work in this field.
Kathy completed collections of most of the native plants growing in Alberta. During this time Kathy and Clare won an Alberta Emerald Award for her publication Common Plants of the Western Rangelands. Kathy also received an award for these books from the Alberta Institute of Agrologists. Writing fiction is a new venture, along with hobbies in entomology and geology.
