“The power of the gospel exposes other forces at work in human life contending against Christ Jesus โ€” among them, the Lord of the Flies, the evil one. It relies on deception to undermine in word and sacrament, Christ sets out the truth to overcome Satanโ€™s grip on the conscience. Pastor Gagnon has provided a rich collection of prayers and services through which the church has historically called on its Lord for the freeing word. So doing, he has provided a rich resource for both personal and public use.โ€

The rites contained in this manual are meant as a liturgical guide for the exorcist who in prayer, study, and in consultation with the synodical bishop and ministerium will use them in accordance with the faith of the catholic and apostolic church and in union with the will of God in Christ Jesus that people would be freed from bondage to evil through the power of the Holy Spirit. However, these rites are not recipes or incantations by which the expulsion of evil is to be accomplished. Rather, they are to be used in faith, knowing that it is Christ Jesus, our Rock upon whom we stand. This is the companion volume with only the Rites and Prayers. See Deliver Us from Evil for the full book. Also available as a set.
