Listening to Jesus 3 : Planting Feet

I have taught confirmation in Emmaus Lutheran Church for the last few years and covered the catechism without ever really being able to reach the rich spiritual content of this very important text in a meaningful way. Pastor Carlson has replaced mundane memorizing and repetition with a very thoughtful and personal approach that helps even younger readers to see the life changing Holy Spirit at work in their own lives. The features that I like best are the daily devotions with expectation to focus on a different word every day, to bring Facebook, You Tube and Bible together to study God’s will in our everyday contacts. The meaning of confirmation is presented in a multifaceted way and the questions and answers from Luther’s catechism are still today as important as they were at his time. The Bible verses are there for reference and opportunity to study deeper. Planting Feet is a very good book for confirmation. Tina (teacher) As Glen desires to connect with the younger generation he doesn’t compromise what Jesus is speaking to him. It isn’t couched in hip words or flashy ideas. He simply writes what the Spirit is saying and, with simple subtlety, invites them to do what they are already doing – write on Facebook.
