How does Passover play a crucial role in linking Judaism and Christianity? During communion, Christians around the world pause to reflect upon the sacrifice that Jesus gave of his very own life to pay the penalty for our sins. But how many remember that Jesus initiated this practice at a very Jewish ceremony called a Passover Seder? He took the matzah (unleavened bread), blessed and broke it, and said, This is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” He then lifted up the cup of redemption and said, This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.” (Luke 22:19-20) How may Gentile and Jewish followers of this Messiah, Yeshua, celebrate the Passover (Pesach) in Spirit and in Truth? The Passover has so much to teach us about our faith – our release from bondage to sin, our salvation in the blood of the Lamb, and our hope of deliverance in a good God who hears the cries of His people. Rediscover the richness of the Hebraic root of the Christian faith and be nourished by the fatness of the olive tree. Remember, You do not support the root, but the root supports you.” (Romans 11:18)
