Psalms of the Savior: Devotions for His Sheep is a collection of devotions written by the leadership team of Northwest Pentecostal Assembly (Edmonton, Canada) and edited by Jonathan Kienzler. The book contains 151 Daily Devotions from “Psalms”. It also includes questions to prompt reflection and further study.
For over 2000 years, “Psalms” have been the songbook of the people of God as they experience both incredible joy and inconceivable sorrow. “Psalms” provides insight, comfort, and hope in all situations as they focus on God’s story of redemption and deliverance.
The contributing authors are all at different stages in life and ministry and provide their own unique perspective the psalm’s application.
Each devotional begins with a highlighted verse from the daily psalm, then explores its meaning in context with an emphasis on Christ before applying it to the life of the believer today.
Excerpt from Psalms of the Savior: Devotions for His Sheep:
“Psalm 150 begins and ends with hallelujah, even as do Psalms 145-149. It’s a fitting conclusion to this book which highlights praise to God. “Everything that has breath” is a reference to all humanity, alluding to God’s breathing into Adam’s nostril’s “the breath of life” (Gen 2:7). God created humanity in his image that we might reflect his glory (Gen 1:26-27). We do this by praising him in everything we say and do, which is explained by the rest of the psalm in terms of place, content, and instruments of praise.”
