Trouble comes, and sometimes you see the clouds gathering and can take shelter. At other times it catches you off guard. Always, though, trouble does pass just like the rain clouds. This is a collection of anecdotes of situations which people bounced back, or walked through what life dished out. They have been collected throughout Maxine’s life experiences in Jamaica before coming to Canada in the ’80s. Her desire is that these stories will encourage others to get a longer term view of their struggles and push through. The stories blend humor, laughter, fear and disgust. They lead through innocence, kindness, ignorance and learning. As one writer suggested, “We should learn from other’s mistakes; we will not live long enough to make them all for ourselves.”
Maxine James experienced many things as a child and young adult growing up in Jamaica. She moved to Canada in 1987 and now resides in Edmonton, Alberta. This is her second book.
