The poet William Wordsworth defined poetry as โthe spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings.โ You are unlikely to find an overflow of powerful feelings in this collection of poems unless you have a peculiar soft spot for gophers.
What you will find are eight poems, including cowboy poems, poems set in the north, and a parody. Thereโs nothing serious and they are sure to bring a smile to your face.
The Doggerelist is the first of two poetry books. The second, The Doggerelist Still is available now.
David Colpitts writes essays, short stories, and doggerel. Some of it is fiction. He used to work for the Government of the Northwest Territories in Yellowknife, writing position papers, briefing notes, and ministerโs statements. Some of it was non-fiction (spin?). These days, he spends most of his time hiking, backpacking, travelling, volunteering, and procrastinating. Oh, and practising his harmonica in the forlorn hope that someday someone โ anyone โ might recognize a tune. He winters in Arizona and lives in Canmore Alberta with his wife and his cedar-strip canoe. All three have retired.
