“Paint the wild creatures and plants of Alberta.” This year-long assignment given to the members of the Society of Western Canadian Artists has resulted in the delightful collection of paintings contained in this book.
These 146 jury-selected works of art showcase Alberta’s wildlife and unique flora found in our mountains, our prairies, our forests, our lakes, even in our backyards – all captured in a variety of artistic styles and mediums. The only rule we set out was that subjects had to be able to live through an Alberta winter or migrate in for the summers. The artists have included their personal thoughts about each piece, and you’ll also find “Did you know…” facts about Alberta’s “wild” throughout the book.
