Prologue from Toads Through the Ages: Hobbly and Wobbly and Good Queen Bess by Angela Haine:
โHobbly and Wobbly were two little toads,
They danced down the pavement singing of odes –
Of knights, oh so brave, and ladies with charm,
And giants and dragons which caused such alarm!
And oh, how they craved and wished they were able,
To be one of the ย ย ย favoured among the Round Table.
Said Wobbly โWhat do we do in this modern Age?
Iโd be a Knight, and youโd be my Page.โ
โNot soโ quoth good Hobbly, โThatโs not in the script.โ
A bitter tense moment, and Hobbly just tripped –
A nasty abrasion, and bruises so brown,
Imagine! A toad, with long legs, falling down.
To bed then he went, and Wobbly him nursed,
Thinking of Wizards โZounds! Are we CURSED?โ
He sat by the bedside, together they spun
Tales of great glory, and deeds that were won.
Together they wrote a best-seller by far โ
And Hobbly was able to buy a new car.โ
